I have in Journalism started out, was a freelance writer for the Westdeutsche Zeitung and seasonal titles like Prinz and Tempo.
At the same time, I earned my initial stripes in production as a production manager and location manager for companies including Columbia Tristar, ENA Film, and Real Film in Cologne. What shaped me equally in both roles was the question of how much craft, how much skill, and how much strategy it takes for stories to truly reach an audience. Studying at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg has turned these experiences, journalistically and on the production side, into a systematic craft.
Since 2003 I have been part of the UFA Group, for over two decades in changing roles, but with the same function, first mover for new formats and business areas. I have series like Ku'damm shaped across four seasons now, a continuity that is rare in German television, and with I am! Margot Friedländer produced a docudrama that won the German Television Award twice, the Blue Panther, and the Robert Geisendörfer Prize. At the same time, I digital communication developed and managed the UFA Group, long before digital strategy was taken for granted in the production industry.
In 2021 I UFA Documentary co-founded as an independent production unit and managed as CEO until 2024. Exactly during this time, something shifted that I no longer wanted to reverse. The formats I was working on increasingly functioned not just linearly or purely documentarily, but across physical experiential spaces, digital platforms, and new technologies, from the Ku'damm musical adaptation at the Theater des Westens to early transmedia projects like Kill your darlings, which I already realized in 2009 with Telefónica and Pro7.
Today, I no longer accompany this shift only within a company, but rather as independent strategic advisor. As IP Architect do I reveal which potential in a existing idea, brand, or IP truly lies within. As a bridge builder, I connect visionaries with the right partners, ranging from full-service content creation, 360° and location-based entertainment to creator brand extension. As a Transformation Designer I ensure that something actually emerges from this connection that reaches an audience where they really are.
I pass on my experience as a lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts, the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, the International Film School Cologne, and the Institute for Creativity and Innovation in Xiamen, China, because I am convinced that the next generation of storytellers must master precisely this interface between proven content excellence and a world that no longer adheres to old gatekeepers.
